Ericsson to make IMSA debut with Ganassi at Rolex 24

Marcus Ericsson will make his debut in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, joining Chip Ganassi Racing as the fourth driver at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Ericsson made 97 Formula One starts with Caterham and Sauber and currently races for Chip Ganassi in IndyCar. He will join fellow F1 refugee and IMSA debutant Kevin Magnussen, Renger van der Zande and IndyCar team-mate Scott Dixon aboard the #01 Cadillac DPi-VR.

The Swede’s name appears on an update entry list for the Roar Before the 24, released on Monday.

The entry list features numerous other notable confirmations. In LMP2, Gabriel Aubry, Mathieu Vaxiviere and Timothe Buret have been confirmed alongside John Farano aboard Tower Motorsport’s #8 ORECA 07-Gibson.

In GTLM, BMW Team RLL has confirmed its line-up for the pair of BMW M8 GTEs, notably including DTM star Timo Glock.

Glock, who has only had a handful of GT endurance outings in his career, will make his IMSA debut aboard the #25 BMW alongside regulars Connor de Phillippi, Bruno Spengler and DTM colleague Philipp Eng.

The #24 BMW is driven by John Edwards, Jesse Krohn, Marco Wittmann and Augusto Farfus.

In GTD, former Meyer Shank Racing driver Misha Goikhberg has joined GRT Grasser Racing Team as part of its two-car Lamborghini effort.

Notably, Katherine Legge will return to racing for the first time since suffering injuries at a testing crash at Paul Ricard in 2020. Legge and Christina Nielsen will partner Rob Ferriol and double Le Mans winner Earl Bamber aboard the #88 Team Hardpoint EBM Porsche 911 GT3 R.
