The complete guide to car subscription: Everything you need to know
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Are you looking for the best car subscription service? The options are plenty, but this should not be an excuse for you to decide in haste. From your budget to the car that you wish to drive, consider a variety of factors before you decide. In this short guide, we’ll dig deeper into car subscriptions and give you a quick rundown of some of the best options worth considering.

What is a Car Subscription Service?

In a nutshell, a car subscription is an alternative to buying and leasing. This is a monthly plan that will allow the subscriber to access a wide range of vehicles for a fixed price. Aside from choosing from different brands and models, you can also swap as often as you want depending on what the subscription allows. It also has other perks, such as insurance coverage and roadside assistance. In some cases, you can also have the car delivered to your home instead of going to the dealership.

Need more compelling reasons to try a car subscription service? Below, we’ll talk about some of its benefits:

  • Change Your Car as Often as You Want: If you have always wanted to drive a new car every week or every month, a car subscription is for you. You can choose a new brand or model as often as your subscription allows.
  • No Long-Term Commitment: This is one of the best things about a car subscription when compared to buying and new car or leasing. Most will only have monthly contracts. This means that you can opt-out easily.
  • Enjoy Perks: Depending on the car subscription service you will choose, you can enjoy a wide array of privileges. For instance, your plan can include roadside assistance to save you from the hassle of getting help in an unfortunate situation.

Nonetheless, despite the good things, there are also some drawbacks, including those we’ll talk about below.

  • Mileage Cap: In the case of most subscriptions, there is a mileage limit. This can be quite disappointing for some people who drive a lot. Often, you have the option to add mileage at a reasonable price.
  • Lack of Modifications: In a car subscription, you do not own the car, which is the same with leasing. This means that you cannot perform modifications. Modifying the car beyond what is allowed can incur some hefty fines.
  • High Fees: Especially if you are opting for a luxury car subscription service, the fees are high. It is almost the same as buying a brand-new car. Nonetheless, take note that it is often inclusive of other services, making it worth every dollar.

Your Best Options for Car Subscription Service

Finally convinced to give car subscription service a try? The options are overwhelming, but this should not be an excuse to decide in haste. Below are some of the top subscriptions that should be on your radar.

Audi Select

Get access to the best performance and luxury vehicles by Audi through this car subscription service. You can choose from Premier and Core Collection depending on the cars that you would like to drive. For a single price, you will enjoy two swaps monthly and unlimited mileage. Other perks include free maintenance, roadside assistance, and concierge delivery.

Access by BMW

Simplicity and flexibility – these are two of the best things about this car subscription service. There is no long-term commitment and all that you need to do is to pay a one-time activation fee. Maintenance, taxes, and upkeep are already included in the monthly price of the subscription.

Care by Volvo

This 24-month subscription plan allows you to shop for different car models for as low as $650 per month, exclusive of taxes and registration fees. However, take note that you are tied to a single car for 24 months. Although, within the 12th month, you will be given the option to upgrade to a higher model if you wish.

Drive Flow

With this car subscription service, one payment covers almost everything except for gas! Whether you need a sedan, coup, or SUV, among others, they have you covered. You will not be limited to a single brand. There is also an on-demand service, which is available for $50 per month plus the daily rate.

Hertz My Car

Anyone who rents a car will most probably be aware of Hertz. Due to insistent public demand, they introduced Hertz My Car, which is their subscription service. There are three tiers available, and the subscription prices range from $599 to $1399. The cheapest plan includes compact and mid-sized cars while the most expensive includes large trucks and luxury sedans.

Lexus Complete

This subscription service offers seamless digital concierge, which will let you change your car within a few taps on your smartphone. You can cancel or pause anytime, so you can enjoy the best bang for the buck. With this subscription, you can flip your vehicle once a month. You can choose from Lexus IS, ES, UX, NX, and RX, depending on what is available in your area.

Sixt+

For a fixed monthly fee, this car subscription service offers full customisation. This means that you can personalise your plan depending on what suits your needs and budget. They have a wide array of vehicles, including Kia Rio, Toyota Rav4, Mercedes Benz A-class, BMW X1, and Range Rover Velar, among others.

Steer EV

One thing that makes it different from all others mentioned above is that it is focused on electric vehicles. There are different plans available. You can choose a plan that includes economical or luxury vehicles depending on how much you are willing to pay. From Tesla to Audi, this car subscription service has models from some of the most popular brands in the market.

Conclusion

In sum, a car subscription service is an excellent way to drive different cars without buying a new one. It might appear expensive, but when you think about the benefits and inclusions, you will realise that it provides the best bang for the buck.
