Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen have taken pole position for the 8 Hours of Bahrain thanks to a late charger from SOrensen, which stopped Porsche from achieving pole.

It looked like Michael Christensen and Kevin Estre were set for pole with an average qualifying time of 01:56:589, until Sorensen charged to pole by posting a late time of 01:56:367 in the #95 Aston Martin Vantage AMR, which brought the average for himself and Thiim down to 01:56:521, a margin of 0.068s.

Christensen and Estre will start from second place in the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19. Daniel Serra and James Calado qualified third in the #51 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo and will be joined on the second row by the #91 Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Richard Lietz and Gianmaria Bruni.

Fifth place was captured by the #71 Ferrari of Miguel Molina and Davide Rigon. Meanwhile, championship contender Maxime Martin had a difficult session, with the Belgian and Richard Westbrook starting their title challenge in the #97 Aston Martin Vantage AMR from the back of the class.
