Ben Keating says he is ‘very excited’ to once again be competing in the colours of car additive firm Wynn’s, which appears on his Porsche 911 RSR for the next two rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Keating, a Texas native, is driving the #57 Team Project 1 entry at his home race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin. For this round and next month’s 1000 Miles of Sebring, the black and yellow of the German outfit has been traded in for the distinctive purple and orange that was previously seen on his Ford GT at Le Mans and his Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship.

When asked by Motorsport Week if he is happy to be back in the Wynn’s colours, Keating replied:

“Yes! I love it. I am very excited to be back here with Wynn’s, for the first time on the Porsche RSR. I’ve been running with Wynn’s in the IMSA series on my GT3 AMG and they’ve just been an incredible partner with me.

I’m in the car business in Texas, I have eighteen dealerships around here and I do a bunch of business with them and so when it became time to do a retro livery in IMSA, you’ve got to back to the old Hotchkiss Porsche livery. It was so well received, and they have really enjoyed being a part of our racing, and so it just made sense.

The next two for the World Endurance Championship, which is my home race in Texas, and then the next one, Sebring, is their home race. So it’s good to have a purple car, I would say.”

At time of writing, the livery has only been confirmed for this weekend’s COTA race and for Sebring in March, but not for the final two European rounds at Spa-Francorchamps and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. When pressed on the possibility of the colours appearing at Spa and Le Mans, Keating says he’d love to see it, but that it is not his decision to make.

“Yet to be seen! I hope so,” he said. “But it’s kind of a different situation. I don’t own the team and I don’t own the car and I think it all depends on where the money comes from.

And so, I love the colour of the car and I love the livery and I hope it stays that way for a long time, but it’s not up to me.”
