Edoardo Mortara is confident that ROKiT Venturi Racing can extract more performance from its Season 6 package after showcasing a competitive pace in Diriyah.

Following a transition year in the 2018/19 campaign, the Monegasque Venturi team has a fresh look for Season 6 after entering a powertrain partnership with Mercedes EQ.

Mortara completed Formula E’s opening weekend of competition with a pair of points finishes, recording seventh in Race 1 and fourth in Race 2.

Despite missing out on silverware in both races, Mortara is confident that Venturi will be able to extract more performance from its 2019/20 car as the season progresses while he explained that consecutive issues when activating Attack Mode impacted his progress:

“We did a better race [in Race 2] and I think the entire weekend has been positive,” said the Swiss-Italian racer. “We finished in fourth place which is really good.

“For the second time in a row, we had a problem with Attack Mode. I’m not sure if I made a mistake or if it was a system issue – we need to investigate it.

“With seventh [in Race 1] and more good points [in Race 2], the car seems really competitive and I’m comfortable with it.

“I have a very good team around me, so that really makes me feel positive and optimistic for the future. Once again, they did a really good job.

“We know that we need to extract more performance from the car – but we have a long season ahead and I’m confident that we will be able to do that.”
