Quin Houff has signed a two-year deal with StarCom Racing that will put him behind the wheel of the #00 NASCAR Cup Series car full-time in 2020 and 2021. He'll replace Landon Cassill in the car. The 2020 season will be Houff's first full-time season in the Cup Series.
“I’m very excited to become a part of the StarCom Racing family,” Houff said. “This is the chance of a lifetime to be able to become a full-time NASCAR Cup driver and to turn my childhood dream into a reality. I can’t thank those that were involved throughout my career enough, especially my family and sponsors. I also would like to thank StarCom Racing for this opportunity. I am looking forward to building a reputation and experience alongside this young fast-growing team at the top-level of motorsports.”
Houff contested 17 of the 36 points-paying Cup Series races in 2019, driving for both Spire Motorsports and Premium Motorsports. In 13 of 17 of those races, he drove the #77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet entry. He finished two races inside the top-30 with a best finish of 28th in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Cassill has been with StarCom since 2018, running 29 races in 2018 between StarCom's #00 and #99 cars and full-time in 2019 as driver of the #00. He has one-career top-10 finish — a fourth at Talladega Superspeedway in 2014 while driving for Circle Sport. He came to StarCom from Front Row Motorsports.
"We are thankful for all that Landon Cassill has brought to StarCom Racing’s program in 2019. We have a commitment to Landon that we plan to honor in 2020,” a statement from the race team Wednesday morning read. "Details to come at a later date.”
Although Cassill raced full-time in the Cup Series and only part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series during the 2019 season, he collected points in the Xfinity Series, enabling him to compete in races that were part of the Dash 4 Cash program and in the Xfinity Series playoff races.
