Ginetta Team LNT has taken a commanding lead in the early laps of the 4 Hours of Shanghai.
Norman Nato started the #1 Rebellion R13-Gibson from pole, but dropped back quickly as he struggled with tyre temperature. In his place, the two Ginetta G60-LT-P1 – AERs had a great start.
Charlie Robertson shot up to the lead in the #6 and held off a brief challenge from the #7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid of Kamui Kobayashi before Ben Hanley slotted into second in the #5 Ginetta, with Team LNT now leading one-two.
Kobayashi now sits third ahead of Buemi in the #8 Toyota of Sebastien Buemi and Nato's #1 Rebellion, which has made its way back through LMP2 traffic.
Will Stevens has taken the lead in LMP2 in the #37 Jackie Chan DC Racing ORECA 07-Gibson, slipping by the #42 Cool Racing ORECA 07-Gibson of Antonin Borga. Andre Negrao, double Le Mans winner during the 2018/19 Super Season, sits in third place in the #36 Signatech Alpine A470-Gibson.
Giedo van der Garde started from the back of the grid for Racing Team Nederland, but has already made his way back up to fifth, passing the #42 Cetilar Racing Dallara while Filipe Albuquerque hit trouble for United Autosports.
Kevin Estre, who started from pole in GTE Pro in the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19, has lost the lead to the Dane Train, the #95 Aston Martin Vantage AMR of Nicki Thiim. Behind Thiim and Estre, James Calado sits in third in the #51 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.
Egidio Perfetti holds a commanding race lead in GTE Am in the #56 Team Project 1 Porsche, well clear of the #90 TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage AMR of Salih Yoluc. Christian Ried holds third in the #77 Dempsey-Proton Porsche 911 RSR.
