Sophia Flörsch will return to Macau's Guia circuit, 12 months on from her terrifying crash, after signing a deal to compete in the FIA Formula 3 World Cup race with HWA Racelab.

Flörsch will join the German team alongside Keyvan Andres and the already-confirmed Jake Hughes for the event set to take place on November 15-17.

The 18-year-old recently got her first taste of the Dallara F3/19 package with the HWA team during a test at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia ahead of the race.

After her crash last year, Flörsch vowed she would make a return to Macau and once again take on the challenge of the world-famous street circuit.

“I’m delighted to be driving in Macau again,” said Flörsch.

It was my first race there last year. Until my accident, it was the most amazing event I had ever contested.

“The track is incredible! It is so much fun to drive. It’s incredible in a Formula 3 car, I had a smile on my face every lap. After the accident, I knew I definitely wanted to return to racing and to return to Macau!

“The fact that I achieved that this year already shows that you can make your dreams come true when you believe in yourself and work hard at them.”

Changes have been made around the circuit to accommodate the higher speeds of the new F3 cars which will make their debut at Macau, including at the Lisboa corner where Flörsch crashed in 2018.
