Renault F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo will sport a Texas Longhorns-themed helmet at this weekend’s United States Grand Prix.
The Texas Longhorns, who play at the nearby Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, represent the University of Texas at college level in American football.
In 2016 Ricciardo ran an Evel Knievel-themed helmet and this year will play tribute to Austin’s local college football team.
“The first year was visited here, I fell in love with the place, the people and the atmosphere,” said Ricciardo.
“Last year I finally went to a Texas Longhorns game and it was an awesome experience so I thought this year I’d top my hat to them.
“I normally try and do something Austin themed here and I thought the Longhorns was a cool one with the idea to do a football helmet!”
