Robin Frijns set the fastest time on the morning of the second day of Formula E pre-season testing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia.
Lapping the Spanish venue in 1m 15.377s, the Envision Virgin Racing driver beat Maximilian Gunther to the fastest time in what was a stop-start session, marked by five red flag periods for incidents throughout the field.
The first red flag of the day was caused by Mercedes EQ's Nyck de Vries who crashed in the circuit's makeshift chicane while Andre Lotterer, Jerome d'Ambrosio and Felipe Massa emulated the Dutchman's incident. A late stoppage at Turn 2 brought Daniel Abt's morning to a close.
At the wave of the chequered flag under halted conditions, Gunther trailed Frijns by a mere 0.057s to front a 2-3 result for BMW i Andretti Motorsport, with team-mate Alexander Sims a further 0.003s adrift from the fastest time.
Oliver Rowland, who briefly held the fastest time of the three-hour session, ended the morning in fourth for Nissan e.dams while Formula E rookie Nico Mueller completed the top five for GEOX Dragon, edging ahead of team-mate Brendon Hartley who was seventh.
Antonio Felix da Costa was the filling in the GEOX Dragon sandwich by delivering DS Techeetah with the sixth-fastest time while reigning Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne was 16th fastest in the second DS E-Tense FE20.
Mitch Evans followed da Costa in eighth for Jaguar while Lucas di Grassi and Sam Bird completed the top 10, the Briton unable to replicate his pace from Day 1.
