Andretti adds fifth car for Colton Herta in Harding Steinbrenner tie-up for 2020

Andretti Autosport has announced that it has partnered with Harding Steinbrenner Racing to run a fifth car for rookie sensation Colton Herta.

Herta joined the NTT IndyCar championship in 2019 on the back of a front-running Indy Lights championship in 2018 where he finished runner-up to Patricio O’Ward.

After a tough debut at the 2018 season finale in Sonoma, Herta began 2019 by topping three of the four opening test sessions at the Circuit of the Americas during ‘Spring Training’. He would then later go on to take his maiden IndyCar win at the circuit in just the second race of the season at the age of 18, becoming the youngest winner in the series.

The partnership will be run under the Andretti Harding Steinbrenner Autosport banner, with HSR team principals Mike Harding and George Michael Steinbrenner joining Michael Andretti as leadership partners of the #88 team.

Alongside the young Herta in the other four Andretti cars will be experienced team-mates in the form of Alexander Rossi, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Zach Veach and Marco Andretti.

"It's always been a goal of mine to drive for Andretti Autosport ever since watching my dad drive for them in the mid-2000s," Herta said. "I've very thankful for the Steinbrenners and Mike Harding for their efforts through my career and continued efforts into this year.

"I've grown up around the Andretti team and many of the guys that have been working there since my dad's days of driving are still with the team. I'm sure I'll feel right at home. I can for sure tell you this is going to be the longest offseason I've had in a while, and I can't wait to hop in my brand-new Andretti Harding Steinbrenner Indy car."
