Robert Kubica has announced that he will be leaving Williams at the end of the 2019 Formula 1 season.
Kubica returned to a full-time race seat with the squad this year, 18 months after he began exploring the possibility of a comeback, following the arm injury he sustained in 2011.
Kubica has endured a difficult season and has been out-performed by rookie team-mate George Russell, though scored Williams’ sole 2019 point in Germany, which remains provisional pending Alfa Romeo’s upcoming appeal.
The Pole had not been expected to stay beyond the end of the season and ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix he revealed that he will be leaving the team.
Formula 2 front-runner and current reserve driver Nicholas Latifi is a leading candidate for the seat.
"I would like to thank the team for the last two years and for helping make my comeback to the Formula 1 grid possible," said Kubica.
"I have enjoyed my time with Williams, both as Reserve & Development Driver and as a Race Driver this year, but I feel that the time is now right for me to move on to the next chapter in my career."
