Antonio Felix da Costa will partner Jean-Eric Vergne at DS Techeetah for the looming 2019/20 Formula E campaign.

The 28-year-old Portuguese racer has been competing in the all-electric single-seater series since its inaugural season, most recently driving for BMW i Andretti Motorsport in Season 5.

In the aforementioned 2018/19 season, da Costa finished in a personal best sixth in the Drivers’ Championship, securing one win and three additional podium finishes over the course of the 13-race campaign to emerge as one of the season’s key title protagonists.

By joining DS Techeetah, who secured the Formula E Drivers' and Teams’ Championships last season, da Costa takes the former seat of Andre Lotterer who, in turn, will partner Neel Jani at Porsche ahead of the German marque’s debut season in the championship later this year.

“Getting the opportunity to join a double championship-winning team in such a highly competitive motorsport category like Formula E it’s very rare," said da Costa.

"It was a very hard decision to leave my current position but it’s an opportunity I just couldn’t say no to and I’m very excited to join Jean-Éric and everyone at DS Techeetah.”

DS Techeetah Team Principal Mark Preston added: “It’s fantastic to have Antonio with the team. He’s a good friend to all of us and we’re all looking forward to welcoming him and to see him in the gold and black DS Techeetah colours.

"He will be a great, and fast, addition to the team and we’re all very excited to see what Jean-Eric and Antonio will deliver on track this coming year.”

Pre-season testing for Formula E’s sixth season will take place from October 15-18 at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia ahead season-opening double-header Ad Diriyah E-Prix on November 22 and 23.
