Both Andrea Dovizioso and Fabio Quartararo have been diagnosed with concussions following the completion of tests undertaken at Coventry Hospital as a result of their fearsome first lap British Grand Prix crash.

The Ducati ace collected Fabio Quartararo's Yamaha following the Frenchman's high-side on the exit of Copse corner, with the pair sliding into the run off. Dovizioso's GP19 burst into flames as it slid towards the barriers, but both riders were both conscious and able to walk shortly after the crash despite both having heavy landings.

Dovizioso looked to be the most injured as his Desmosedici effectively used the M1 as a ramp, flying into the air and causing him to slam into the ground. He had to be strethered off initially before being seen getting his breath back at the side of the track.

Ducati issued a short statement after the race regarding Dovizioso's physical wellbeing that read:
"After the big crash on lap 1 Andrea Dovizioso has nothing broken but has been transferred to Coventry Hospital for further checks due to a severe blow to the head that caused a momentary loss of memory."

Both however were later sent to the medical centre for checks, where it was found that both the Italian and Qurtararo had suffered concussions. This puts the pair in doubt for the next round of the MotoGP world championship at Misano in three weeks time, with Dovizioso currently second in the riders standings depsite his Silverstone retirement while Quartararo currently sits eighth in his rookie premier class campaign.
