Rebellion Racing has made a late announcement they will be running a second privateer car at next month’s opening round of the 2019/2020 FIA WEC season at Silverstone.

The initial entry list for the 4 Hours of Silverstone had only the one Rebellion alongside the two Toyotas and returning Ginetta’s in the LMP1 class.

Driving the second Gibson powered R-13 will be Nathaniel Berthon, Pipo Derani and Loic Duval in the #3 car.

In the already confirmed #1 Rebellion, which will compete for the full season, will be Bruno Senna, Gustavo Menezes and Norman Nato.

Rebellion had fielded two cars during July's Prologue at Barcelona, but initially only entered the one car for Silverstone.

The Swiss outfit is aiming to race both cars at Spa-Francorchamps and the season finale at Le Mans, however, won’t rule out other appearances across the eight-round championship.

Should a second car be available, Duval would likely be unavailable due to a clash with the DTM season finale at Hockenheim.

Alexandre Pesci, President and Owner of Rebellion Corporation, said: “At the end of many negotiations, the Team managed to enter a second car for this first round of the World Endurance Championship and keeps on working to be able to line up two cars in each round of the WEC although priority will be given to Spa-Francorchamps and the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020.”
