Pramac has finally announced a deal extension for Jack Miller, a confirmation expected since last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix.
The MotoGP race winner lost out to current Ducati factory rider in their own battle for the second spot alongside Andrea Dovizioso in the official team for next year, Petrucci’s Mugello victory getting him the nod over Miller.
Miller was always likely to remain with the Italian outfit on a factory-spec Ducati machine despite this, although a continuation of the partnership was thrown into doubt at the last minute as ex-Ducati man Jorge Lorenzo expressed interest in returning to the fold.
It was reported heading into the Austrian weekend that Lorenzo had enquired over taking Millers seat for next year having struggled to get to grips with his Honda RC213-V this season, with the Aussie possibly swapping rides with Lorenzo.
Lorenzo eventually elected to remain with Honda to see out his contract though, making Miller’s own deal a formality. The announcement also confirms that as expected Pramac will now run a pair of up-to-date Desmosedici's, having always ran a year-old machine alongisde their factory-spec bike up to now.
“I am very happy to have reached this agreement,” said Miller.
“Pramac Racing is a team that made me feel comfortable right from the start and the relationship with Ducati is very close.
“I will have again the official bike at my disposal and will do my best to achieve great results. I would like to thank Ducati and my team for the great work they have done so far.”
Paolo Ciabatti, Ducati Sporting Director, added;
“We are really glad to have reached an agreement with Pramac Racing that will allow our factory supported team to field Desmosedici GP20 bikes for both Jack and Pecco next year.
“We are very pleased that Jack will continue with us next year, because he has shown continuous progress since he joined us in 2018, and want to thank Pramac Racing for their continued commitment to Ducati.”
Miller currently stands eighth in the MotoGP riders standings, having scored a pair of rostrum finishes so far this season at the Circuit of the Americas and at Brno.
