Megan Gilkes claimed her maiden W Series victory on Sunday in an experimental reverse grid non-championship race, meaning she scores no points for the win.

Gilkes, who sits bottom of the standings, started from pole and led from start to finish, but it was a photo-finish as she and Alice Powell crossed the line split by just 0.003 seconds.

The one-off race produced some thrilling battles up and down the field, with Powell making up an impressive number of places in the opening two laps from 17th on the grid.

Gilkes had to defend for her life in the closing laps as eight cars looked worthy of the victory, and at the chequered flag the top five were covered by less than eighh-tenths.

Sabre Cook took the final podium spot ahead of Saturday winner Emma Kimilainen, Jessica Hawkins and Tasmin Pepper.

Hawkins had challenged for the lead prior to a Safety Car, which was caused by Gosia Rdest spinning off into the gravel trap after contact with Sarah Bovy. Fabienne Wohlwend also ended up in the gravel.

Championship leader and back of the grid starter Jamie Chadwick rose up to eighth place ahead of Vicky Piria and Sarah Moore in tenth.

Chadwick's title rival Beitske Visser struggled to make an impact, climbing to 14th from 19th.

There were two Safety Car's, the first of which was caused by Shea Holbrook when she too span into the gravel in her Tatuus F3.
