James Rossiter could drive for TWR Techeetah in the second season of the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY Motorsport Week has learned.

Rossiter is currently the development driver of recently crowned Formula E Teams' champions DS Techeetah, with the British racer supporting the team with the development of its DS E-Tense FE.19 car throughout Season 5.

Prior to his DS Techeetah role, Rossiter was also test driver for Honda, Super Aguri and Force India in Formula 1 and currently races in the Super GT Series for Team Impul in the GT500 class, taking a podium at the season opener at Okayama.

Motorsport Week understands that Rossiter could drive in Formula E's official support series next season, racing for Techeetah-backed Pro team TWR Techeetah, with the Chinese squad expanding its motorsport portfolio by joining the I-PACE eTROPHY's inaugural season, pairing with Tom Walkinshaw Racing.

TWR Techeetah was one of four Pro teams on the grid, however, did not race in New York City last weekend following an "administrative issue" according to a championship spokesperson.

For Season 2, it is also understood that like rival teams Jaguar Brazil Racing and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, TWR Techeetah could operate a two-car team – something that the outfit worked on for Season 1 although this did not come to fruition.

The Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY completed its inaugural season last weekend with a double-header round in New York City, with Jaguar Brazil Racing driver Sergio Jimenez emerging as the series' first Pro champion.
