Jerome d'Ambrosio set the fastest time in final practice ahead of qualifying for the season-closing New York City E-Prix, topping the session that was red-flagged on two occasions.
In the early stages of the session, DS Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne led the way before the red flag waved for the first time after 20 minutes of running, with a loose manhole cover leading to a 10-minute stoppage.
After the restart, d'Ambrosio set his fastest time, lapping the Brooklyn Street Circuit in 1m 09.712s before Gary Paffett crashed his HWA Racelab car in Turn 11 with six minutes to go.
With the session not getting resumed, Envision Virgin Racing's Robin Frijns emerged as d'Ambrosio's nearest challenger, 0.077s adrift of the Belgian while Alexander Sims set the third-fastest time for BMW.
Daniel Abt was the lead Audi driver, ending the 45-minute session in fourth while Nissan e.dams' Oliver Rowland completed the top five, 0.240s off the pace.
Championship leader Vergne was sixth fastest for DS Techeetah while Stoffel Vandoorne was seventh in the second HWA Racelab entry.
Lucas di Grassi, who slashed the gap to Vergne by 10 points in the Drivers' Championship in Race 1, was eighth while Alex Lynn was the lead Jaguar Racing driver in ninth.
Race 1 winner Sebastien Buemi completed the top 10, 0.547s adrift of d'Ambrosio in the second Nissan IM01.
