The Keating Motorsports' Ford has been stripped of its GTE-Am class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for a rules violation.
The #85 Ford GT of Ben Keating, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Felipe Fraga crossed the line to take class honours on Sunday, but it was confirmed on Monday that it had been disqualified for a refuelling time violation and fuel capacity infraction.
The rules stipulate a minimum refuelling time of 45 seconds during stops. According to the FIA report, the car's refuelling system recorded a time of 44.4 seconds.
The car was handed a 55.2 second time penalty for that violation, which dropped it to second behind the Team Project 1 Porsche 911 of Joerg Bergmeister, Patrick Lindsey and Egidio Perfetti, who inherit the victory.
However a second violation – this time exceeding the minimum fuel capacity – has resulted in an overall disqualification.
The car was 0.1 litre over the maximum 96 litres allowed under the technical regulations.
It's the second disqualification, with the #68 Ford GT losing its fourth-place finish in the LMGTE-Pro class for a similar violation.
