Ford reveals retro liveries for 24 Hours of Le Mans

Ford has revealed the liveries in which its four cars will contest the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 87th running will be the final time the Ford GT competes in GTE Pro. For the final outing, each of the four cars will race in colours inspired by Ford's success at the Circuit de La Sarthe.

The #66 entry of Stefan Mücke, Olivier Pla and Billy Johnson is decked out in a black and white colour scheme, a throwback to the 1966 Shelby American Ford GT40 MKII in which Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon took Ford's first overall win at Le Mans.

The 1967 victory is celebrated by the #67 car of Andy Priaulx, Harry Tincknell and Jonathan Bomarito. The trio will race in a red and white colour scheme similar to that of Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt's GT40.

The IMSA trio of Dirk Müller, Joey Hand and Sebastien Bourdais will be driving their #68 Ford GT in the exact same colour scheme with which it claimed GTE Pro victory upon Ford's return.

The fourth factory car will be driven by Scott Dixon, Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe. The #69 takes its inspiration from the GT40 that took second place in 1966.

Finally, the four factory cars will be joined by a privateer entry for the first time in the car's history. Keating Motorsport will be running the #85 GTE Am entry driven by Ben Keating, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Felipe Fraga. The car will bear the same purple and orange Wynn colours as the Mercedes AMG-GT3 with which the team competes in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship. That livery is in itself a throwback to the Wynn's branded Hotchkis Racing Porsche 962s that competed in IMSA in the late 1980's.

Mark Rushbrook, director of Ford Performance Motorsports commented: “The Ford GT was created to take Ford back to the world of GT endurance racing.”

“This factory Ford GT programme has been a great success for our brand and we have enjoyed the many challenges that have come our way during this four-year programme.

"Le Mans is not quite the end of the factory programme as we still have many more IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship races to go in 2019.”
