Andre Lotterer is aiming to become the ABB FIA Formula E Championship's ninth different winner this season at the Monaco E-Prix, with the German racer aiming to convert his current run of podiums into victory on the streets of the Principality.
The DS Techeetah driver currently occupies second in the Drivers' Championship, only one point adrift of Envision Virgin Racing's Robin Frijns who currently leads after winning in Paris last month.
Lotterer, who trailed the Dutchman by 1.3s when the chequered flag waved, finished in the runner-up spot in the French capital, taking a second consecutive podium finish in the all-electric single seater series.
Despite joining Formula E in its fourth season of competition last year, recording four podium finishes to date, Lotterer remains winless, coming close to standing on the top step of the podium at the Hong Kong E-Prix before an incident with Sam Bird demoted the driver to 14th.
Making his on-track debut on the streets of Monaco this weekend, despite racing in various championships over his racing career, Lotterer is targeting the top spot in the Principality, holding a strong desire and motivation to triumph at the ninth round of the 2018/19 season:
“I’m super excited to drive the DS E-Tense FE19 around the Monaco track for the first time this week," he said, coming off the back of a fifth-place finish at the penultimate round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Spa last weekend.
"I’ve lived in Monaco since 2012 but I’ve never raced here so that will be a first. It will be amazing to wake up at home, have a coffee on the balcony and then walk down to the track, it’s not many times in your career you get to do that.
“I’m incredibly motivated to have a good result in Monaco. I’ve had two second places now so it’s time to turn that into a first place," he continued.
"As a driver, winning is all that you think about. You live and breathe it so being close yet so far really triggers you to wanting it even more and I will give it all I got.
"It’s all about every single little point as the championship is a numbers game at the end of the day and we can’t take any gambles.”
Pairing Lotterer's run of form with the results of reigning Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne, DS Techeetah currently leads the Teams' Championship with 142 points, seven points ahead of Envision Virgin.
