Neel Jani and Brendon Hartley completed over 1,000km of running for Porsche at the Calafat Circuit ahead of the German manufacturer's Season Six entry in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

The pair, who previously raced for Porsche in the FIA World Endurance Championship, shared driving duties over the course of the test which consisted of three days of running.

Jani, who will form one half of Porsche's 2019/20 Formula E driver line-up after previously driving for Dragon Racing in Season Four, hailed the test as "very positive" for the team, emphasising the importance of completing high mileage in the testing phase.

“I feel the tests with the Porsche Formula E car at Calafat were very positive," said the Swiss racer.

"It is hugely important to get as many kilometres as possible under our belt during the test phase for our Formula E race car and, in doing so, to gain valuable experience – particularly from a technical point of view.

"They have been very productive days. I am now looking forward to working with the team over the coming months, as we strive to get the very best out of the Porsche Formula E race car.”

While Jani has been confirmed as one of Porsche's drivers for Season Six, it is currently unknown who will occupy the second seat, with former Porsche driver and current DS Techeetah racer Andre Lotterer being linked while Rome E-Prix race winner Mitch Evans has also been connected.

Hartley, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the German marque in 2017 before racing in Formula 1 with Toro Rosso, has been particularly tipped for the second seat and described his test with the team as both enjoyable and challenging:

“As a test and development driver, it's my job to support the Porsche Formula E programme with preparations for Season 6 of Formula E," he said.

"My main focus has been on the simulation work in Weissach. Testing the car on track has been both an enjoyable and challenging experience.

"It is, of course, enjoyable to drive the car, however, contributing and working with the talented group of people at Porsche on this project is also a real pleasure."

While Porsche will join Formula E in Season Six, Mercedes will also enter the fully-electric racing scene with its highly anticipated EQ entry, with this meaning that the all-electric single-seater series' grid will expand to 24 cars.
