Stephane Peterhansel has extended his lead of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge and now has an advantage of 4 minutes 23 seconds back to second place.
Peterhansel set the second fastest time of the day to increase his gap to Bernhard Ten Brinke who is in a tight battle with third-placed Khalid Al Qassimi who is 13 seconds behind.
Ten Brinke managed to stay ahead of Al Qassimi despite having two tyres explode over the course of the day.
The conditions were more favourable for the crews on Tuesday as the wind died down and sandstorms stopped, giving everyone a chance to show their true pace.
Jakob Przygonski had a stronger day to catch up to the leading drivers and is now only two minutes off third place ahead of Martin Prokop who continued to be affected by motion sickness and said he couldn’t get in the rhythm to stay on the pace.
Aron Domzala has moved into sixth even after becoming stuck in a hole, ahead of Vladimir Vasilyev who also became stuck in the sand losing 30 minutes before he was rescued by a tow from Cyril Despres.
Casey Currie continues to lead the T3 category ahead of Reinaldo Varela and Despres recovered from Monday’s woes to sit in 10th.
