Antonio Giovinazzi says he regards Alfa Romeo team-mate Kimi Raikkonen as a "teacher and reference", on account of the Finn’s Formula 1 experience.
Giovinazzi has stepped up full-time this year with the Alfa Romeo squad, having spent the last two years in test/reserve roles with Ferrari, Sauber and Haas.
Giovinazzi has started two Grands Prix as a late substitute, during the opening stages of 2017, but that is dwarfed by the 292 races started by 2007 World Champion Raikkonen.
"Kimi is really motivated this year and it’s something really good to have," said Giovinazzi.
"For me he can be a teacher but also a reference during the year.
"With the results and everything the important thing in the end is to work really well together, going on the same direction with the car, and achieve the best result for the team.
"[Raikkonen] is a good target I would say. He’s a World Champion driver, he’s a driver who won a Formula 1 race last October, so yeah, I think he can be a really good target."
Giovinazzi added that approaching the new season having already secured an F1 seat has led to a different mindset and attitude within the team.
"This will be my car, I’m working with my team, with my engineer and everything," he said.
"Of course in the last two years I was third driver so I was always jumping to one car and the other car so it was not really easy, but now I’m enjoying this moment.
"I think if anything it’s working really well and this is important."
