Reigning Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne broke the lap record of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico City, topping the all-electric single seater series' final in-season test of the 2018/19 campaign.
The Frenchman's time, a 58.775s run around the 2.093km-long circuit set in the afternoon, beat BMW i Andretti Motorsport's previous lap record set by Antonio Felix da Costa in second practice in preparation for the Mexico City E-Prix, with Vergne out-pacing the Portuguese racer by 0.188s.
HWA Racelab's Stoffel Vandoorne was Vergne's nearest challenger at the end of the day's running, with the Belgian driver trailing the Frenchman by only 0.042s to leave the Mexican capital with the second fastest time.
Mexico City E-Prix polesitter Pascal Wehrlein followed Vandoorne in third fastest, only 0.056s slower than the former McLaren Formula 1 driver while Robin Frijns was fourth for Envision Virgin Racing, with Daniel Abt, who failed to beat his session-topping pace from the morning, completing the top five in the works Audi.
Vergne's DS Techeetah team-mate Andre Lotterer emerged as the sixth fastest runner, with only 0.182s separating the pair while Lucas di Grassi, who stormed to a thrilling victory at the fourth race of the season, was seventh in the second works Audi e-tron FE05 car.
Felipe Massa was eighth fastest and was followed in ninth by Jose Maria Lopez who shared driving duties at GEOX Dragon with Raffaele Marciello, with the American outfit evaluating the Italian racer over a potential race seat at the Rome E-Prix, with Felipe Nasr unable to race at the April 13 event due to a calendar clash with his DPi driving duties in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Mitch Evans completed the top 10 driving Panasonic Jaguar Racing's I-TYPE 3 machine, with only 0.266s completing the first half of the field.
Sebastien Buemi headed Sam Bird in 11th for Nissan e.dams while Mexico City podium finisher Edoardo Mortara was 13th in the second Venturi, outpacing the BMW pair of da Costa and Alexander Sims who completed the top 15.
Nasr, who made his Formula E debut in Mexico City, was responsible for one of three red flags during the day after making contact with the barrier in Turns 8 and 9 while the other two were caused by debris, with the Brazilian ending the session in 16th while Gary Paffett was 17th.
Tom Dillmann led 18th downwards as the lead NIO driver while Marciello was 19th after previously testing for HWA at last month's Marrakesh rookie test at the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan in the Moroccan capital.
Oliver Rowland headed Oliver Turvey in 20th while Nelson Piquet Jr and Jerome d'Ambrosio completed the timesheets.

The ABB FIA Formula E Championship will return on March 10 for the Hong Kong E-Prix and will be accompanied by support racing action from the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY.
