Williams reveals 2019 F1 livery and new title partner

Williams has unveiled the revised white-and-blue livery which will adorn its FW42 in Formula 1 this year, with ROKiT announced as its new title partner.

Williams finished third across 2014/15 and took fifth in 2016/17, and targeted an improvement with its FW41 as it undertook a new design philosophy.

But instead its package was seriously compromised by design flaws and the team scored points in only two Grands Prix, slumping to last in the Constructors’ Championship.

Performance Chief Rob Smedley left at the end of a campaign in which Head of Aerodynamics Dirk de Beer and Chief Designer Ed Wood were also deemed surplus to requirements.

Williams also enters 2019 with a revised driver line-up.

Robert Kubica will return to the grid eight years after sustaining life-changing injuries in a serious rally accident that led to a lengthy hiatus in single-seater career.

The 2008 Canadian Grand Prix victor has been joined by Mercedes-backed George Russell, who emulated Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by storming to back-to-back GP3 and Formula 2 titles.

Kubica and Russell will be backed up by test and reserve driver Nicholas Latifi, following prior spells with Renault and Force India, and who is slated for six practice sessions this year.

It was also announced that British-based phone company ROKiT will replace Martini as its title partner, after its five-year sponsorship with the drinks brand came to a conclusion.

The FW42 is set to revealed shortly before the start of testing in Spain next Monday.
