Haas unveils new look for 2019 F1 campaign

The Haas Formula 1 team has unveiled its 2019 car, the VF-19, and a new livery that it will sport during the 2019 season.

Haas confirmed last year that it would take on title sponsorship for the first time, having penned a deal with up-and-coming energy drinks brand Rich Energy.

Haas, having run a grey scheme in 2018, has switched to a predominantly black approach, with flashes of gold a nod to Rich Energy’s corporate colours.

The new scheme was unveiled during an event at the Royal Automobile Club in London on Thursday morning.

Team Principal Guenther Steiner, drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, and Rich Energy CEO William Storey were on hand to unveil the new colours on a VF-18, which featured a 2019-spec front wing, and official renders were released by the team.

Haas, Formula 1’s youngest outfit, finished fifth in last season’s Constructors’ Championship, having improved on the back-to-back eighth places it secured across 2016/17.

It challenged Renault for fourth for much of the season, before the French manufacturer pulled clear, and finished with a tally of 93 points, more than its 2016/17 totals combined.

Haas’ livery unveiling is the first event in a busy build-up to pre-season testing as Formula 1 teams gear up for the start of the new campaign.

Toro Rosso will take the wraps off its Honda-powered STR14 on Monday, before Renault launches its 2019 season at its Enstone factory on Tuesday.

Reigning World Champions Mercedes will unveil, and run, its W10 on Wednesday morning at Silverstone, while Racing Point’s new identity will be launched in Toronto later the same day.

McLaren, at Woking, and Ferrari, at Maranello, will launch their respective 2019 challengers on Thursday and Friday.
