Loic Duval sets fastest time in Daytona night practice

Loic Duval has set the fastest time in the night practice session ahead of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Frenchman set a 01:34:786 in the #54 Nissan DPi.

Duval's time was 0.119s quicker than Filipe Albuquerque in the #5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac. The top four was rounded out by the Team Penske Acuras. Helio Castroneves put the #7 just 0.029s ahead of the #6, driven by Simon Pagenaud. Kamui Kobayashi was fifth in the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac, followed by the #31 Whelen Engineering machine of Pipo Derani and the #85 JDC-Miller Motorsports entry driven by Tristan Vautier.

Both Mazdas sat out the session, as Team Joest spent the time on fitting new engines to both the #55 and pole-sitting #77 machines.

Picking up where it left off in qualifying, the #81 Dragonspeed ORECA was fastest in LMP2. Ben Hanley set a time of 01:36:521, beating the #18 sister car by about half a second.

Both GT classes saw a BMW on top of the leaderboard. In GTLM, Augusto Farfus was fastest in the #25 M8 GTE, beating Patrick Pilet in the #911 Porsche by just 0.002s. Pilet was followed by Oliver Gavin in the #4 Corvette and the Fords of Scott Dixon and Joey Hand.

Veteran Bill Auberlen proved quickest in GTD, setting a 01:45:165 in the #96 Turner Motorsports BMW M6 GT3, beating 2018 pole man Daniel Serra in the #51 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3. Matt Campbell rounded out the top three in the #73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.
