Schmidt Peterson Motorsports has expanded its title partnership with Arrow for this year’s IndyCar Series.
The team will now be known as Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, with the company providing additional technical expertise and resources to the squad.
SPM will field series veteran James Hinchcliffe and ex-Sauber F1 racer Marcus Ericsson this season, with a vacancy available for the injured Robert Wickens when he is fit to return to competition.
The No. 5 and No. 7 cars, along with Wickens’ No. 6, were on display during Friday’s event in Denver bedecked in the revised black-and-gold livery that has featured on Hinchcliffe’s car since 2015.
“For me, this announcement is nothing short of a lifelong dream come true,” said Sam Schmidt, co-owner of Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.
“Mike Long and the entire team at Arrow first had vision to create a system that enabled me to get behind the wheel after 16 years of paralysis which, in and of itself, has changed my life and the lives of millions worldwide.
“Now, by becoming our team title partner, they have given us the resources to fulfil another lifelong dream to win the Indy 500 and a championship in the IndyCar Series.”
Wickens was also present at the announcement and commented: "It means the world to me, the support I've been getting. It's just phenomenal. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to race for them last year. And even more grateful I'll have the opportunity sometime in the future."
