Five drivers are set for grid penalties at this weekend’s Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix, following confirmation of new engine components fitted to their respective cars.

McLaren’s Fernando Alonso, both Red Bull drivers and their Toro Rosso counterparts have taken on fresh components for the race at the Sochi Autodrom.

All five drivers have taken on a fresh Internal Combustion Engine, Turbocharger, MGU-H and MGU-K.

Verstappen and Alonso have also taken on a fresh Energy Store and Control Electronics, while Hartley has joined the Renault-powered duo in using a new CE.

Red Bull duo Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen have reverted to Renault’s B-Spec engine, having trialled the C-Spec, while the Honda-powered STR pair are running the marque’s Spec 3 package.

All five will receive penalties in excess of 15 positions, meaning they are automatically relegated to the rear of the pack.

As such, the quintet are likely to be placed from positions 16 to 20 on the grid depending on the order in which they qualify on Saturday.
