F1 relaunches old timing app following complaints

Formula 1 has launched a dedicated live timing app on Android and iOS after its new update received widespread criticism from fans.

A newly updated version cut down the number of drivers visible on the screen to just seven, rather than the full grid of 20 drivers the previous version displayed, evoking anger from fans on social media.

F1 admitted it made a mistake and has now released a standalone timing app which has reverted to the previous version.

"The launch of our new F1 app didn't quite live up to your expectations, and live timing didn't deliver the great mobile F1 experience you previously enjoyed," a statement said.

"We take feedback from our fans seriously. So when some of you said you preferred the Live Timing service in our old app, we decided to revive this functionality in its own dedicated app. The new F1 app will still be available alongside this new addition.

"Now you can again get access to all the data at once during any race. Monitor all 20 drivers as they barrel down the track. Don’t miss one bit of the action. You’ll get the whole lot. The full scope. Viewable on any mobile device or tablet equipped with either Android or iOS."

The new standalone timing app can be download on Android or iOS.
