Haas junior driver Santino Ferrucci will miss the Formula 2 event in Hungary and Belgium due to being handed a two-round (four-race) ban after collecting multiple penalties in a calamitous Sprint Race.
The Trident driver collided with his team-mate and fellow Haas junior Arjun Maini during the race, forcing the Indian off at Turn 4 as well as hitting him again on the cooldown lap once the race had ended.
Race stewards requested the attendance of the Trident team and after hearing their testimony, the team were open in stating the incident on the cooldown lap was a deliberate act by Ferrucci.
He was asked to attend a meeting with the stewards and declined to attend which has resulted in his two-round ban and a fine of €60,000 for his transgressions in the race.
The punishments didn't end there after he further declined to attend a second meeting with the stewards with regards to his collision with Maini at Turn 4. As a result of this, he was disqualified from the sprint race results where he originally finished 14th.
A third penalty was also given to Ferrucci after he was seen transitioning from the support paddock to the race pitlane wearing just one glove as well as holding a phone in his hand by a Technical Delegate, by doing this Ferrucci also violated both the technical and sporting regulations for incorrect driver safety equipment and the prohibition of wireless transmission devices within the car.
A further fine of €6000 was handed down to the American to add to his numerous infractions throughout the day.
