The Williams pairing of Sergey Sirotkin and Lance Stroll will start the British Grand Prix from the pitlane after the team brought the cars out of Parc Ferme to find a solution to their problems.
During qualifying both drivers were suffering from an aerodynamic stall which was causing problems with rear end stability as the DRS flap became reattached to the newly designed rear wing.
This, in turn, caused both drivers to spin off during their runs in qualifying with Stroll going off first and ended up buried deep in the gravel at Brooklands as he tried to get a time on the board.
Later in the session, Sirotkin went off at Stowe but was able to rescue himself after his rear tyres landed in the escape road and drove his way out of the gravel trap.
When a car is taken out of Parc Ferme and changes are made to the specifications of the car from qualifying, it automatically results in a pit-lane start.
Both Williams will be in front of the Toro Rosso of Brendon Hartley after his heavy crash in FP3 which the team had to change the chassis ahead of the race.
Williams remains at the foot of the Constructors' Championship in 10th place with only four points.
