Mercedes go conservative with Canadian GP tyre selection

Mercedes has adopted a conservative approach with its tyre compound choices for next weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

The Silver Arrows have elected to bring along only five sets of the Hypersoft tyre which made its debut in Monaco last weekend, while Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton will also take the same amount of the Ultra and Supersoft compounds.

Other teams have elected to take more of the Hypersofts, with the majority of the field taking eight sets of the softest Pirelli rubber available to them.

Williams has also decided to venture away from the conventional route their rivals are taking by selecting more of the Supersoft compound, Lance Stroll will take five sets of the red-marked compound while Sergey Sirotkin will take four, but will have one more set of Ultrasofts as a result.
