Antonio Fuoco and Lando Norris both received post-race time penalties for speeding under the Virtual Safety Car during a frantic Sprint race in Monaco.
Formula 2 now requires drivers to follow a set delta time on their dashboard in the same way as Formula 1, during the VSC period, both drivers had failed to adhere to the nearest time of arrival which was given to them.
Both drivers were handed penalties which matched the time they had gained under the VSC conditions. This meant Fuoco was deducted 0.8 seconds, this meant the gap back to Norris at the end of the race was significant enough to allow the Ferrari academy driver to keep his victory.
Norris drops behind Louis Delétraz after he had 1.1 seconds added to his final finishing time. The result of the Carlin driver's demotion to third place means Charouz secure their first 1-2 finish in F2.
Other post-race penalties saw MP Motorsport's Roberto Mehri handed a five-second grid penalty for overtaking Arjun Maini under the Safety Car in the final stages of the race, this meant the Spaniard's final result is seventh, behind Maini and Arden's Maximilian Gunther.
Santino Ferrucci was also handed a 10-second time penalty for conducting clutch bite point tests in the pitlane, against race director instructions. Despite the infraction and subsequent penalty, the American's final position did not change from 12th place.
With all penalties applied, Norris has still extended his lead in the Drivers’ Championship, now with a total of 98 points, 27 points ahead of Russian Time's Artem Markelov.
