Pedro Piquet will compete for Trident in this year’s GP3 Series, completing the championship’s 2018 driver line-up.
Piquet ran for Trident during pre-season testing and on Monday the Italian operation confirmed that the 19-year-old son of triple F1 champion Nelson will race its #5 car.
Piquet, 14th in last year’s F3 championship, joins Alessio Lorandi, Giuliano Alesi and Ryan Tveter at the team.
"I am very enthusiastic about my first GP3 Series season under the Trident banner,” said Piquet.
“It is a winning squad that, year after year, confirmed its position among the series' frontrunners.
“I am sure I will find everything I will need to be a contender even in my debut season in the series.”
Confirmation of Piquet at Trident means 20 drivers across six teams will contest the new season, which begins alongside Formula 1’s Spanish Grand Prix this weekend.
