Three drivers have been excluded from Formula 2’s qualifying session at the Baku City Circuit.
Trident’s Santino Ferrucci qualified in fifth spot but post-session checks determined that his car failed to comply with the minimum tyre pressures outlined in the technical regulations.
Stewards also determined that 13 people worked on the Arden cars of Maximilian Gunther and Nirei Fukuzumi during the session, a breach of the maximum allowable allocation of 12.
Stewards labelled Arden’s transgression as “serious”, leading to the exclusion of Gunther, who had qualified 11th, and Fukuzumi, who had taken 16th spot.
All three have been cleared to start Saturday’s Feature Race from the back of the field, in front of Nicholas Latifi, who was unable to set a time within the 107 per cent rule.
Latifi will start from the rear of the pack after stewards approved his permission to race on account of his practice pace.
DAMS driver Alexander Albon will start from pole position, in front of championship leader Lando Norris.
