Remy Gardner edged Lorenzo Baldassarri to top a wet final Moto2 practice in Argentina ahead of qualifying.
The session got underway with the track still damp from the earlier Moto3 session, with intermittent rain falling throughout the 45 minutes.
Top spot changed hands a number of times as the field grew more and more confident in the tricky conditions.
Red Bull KTM Ajo's Miguel Oliveira – who secured pole in Argentina one year ago – set the early pace with a 2:02.255s, improving to a 2:00.897s on his following effort, deposing brief pacesetter Francesco Bagnaia on the Sky VR46 machine.
Iker Lecuona took over top spot 15 minutes, just moments after CGBM KTM teammate Sam Lowes fell at the penultimate corner, before Baldassarri deposed him with a 2:00.192s.
Tech3's Gardner set the first sub two-minute lap of the session with 22 minutes remaining, the Australian posting a 1:59.635s, before dipping into the 1:58s bracket with a 1:58.737s.
Gardner extended his advantage at the top of the timesheets with a 1:58.591s, the Tech3 rider easing over four tenths clear of second-placed Baldassarri, and opening that out by another two tenths with seven minutes left.
A final effort from Gardner of 1:57.379s secured him top spot in FP3, though only just as Baldassarri got to within 0.070s of him at the end. Oliveira completed the top three, 0.431s further back.
Mattia Pasini led FP3 briefly on his Italtrans machine, though ended up fourth at the chequered flag ahead of Lecuona and Binder, while a second fall for Lowes at Turn 13 left him in seventh.
Qatar pole man Alex Marquez headed Marc VDS teammate Joan Mir in eighth, with Jorge Navarro rounding out the top 10.
