With 18 years experience behind the wheel of everything from Formula 1 single-seaters to Le Mans sportscars, Carmen Jorda is one of the most recognisable female figures in the world of motorsport.
Starting out – as all good racing drivers do – in karting at an early age, it wasn't long before she progressed to the European Formula 3 championship, the Le Mans endurance racing series and the Firestone Indy Lights Series.
Joining Lotus F1 as a development driver in 2015, she continued the test role with Renault Sport team. In 2017, Carmen was elected to the FIA’s Women in Motorsport commission, encouraging more young girls to get involved in motorsport.
Joining us here in Mexico for the 2018 Mexico City E-Prix, we gave her the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Formula E test car, ahead of the fifth round of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. Moments after her first taste of all-electric racing, we caught up with her to find out how she got on and why she thinks electric is the future. Click below to watch.
