European Formula 3 graduate Maximilian Gunther has been named as Dragon Racing's test and reserve driver for 2018.
Gunther is set to graduate to Formula 2 this season where he will drive for Arden after impressing in Formula 3 last season, finishing in third place in the Drivers' Championship with an impressive five wins to his name and 17 consecutive points finishes.
Gunther tested for Dragon Racing earlier this year at Formula E's rookie test following the Marrakesh ePrix and impressed the Penske-run American outfit with his pace over the course of one lap and in longer runs.
"I'm really looking forward to working with Dragon in Formula E," said Gunther.
"In the rookie tests in Marrakech, I was given a great reception by the entire crew and made to feel at home right from the start.
"I was very impressed by the professionalism they bring to the job, and I now want to play my part in ensuring that the team continues to be successful in the future."
While Gunther has his eyes set on a top drive as he joins F1's feeder series this year where he will race alongside Nirei Fukuzumi, Gunther highlighted the potential that Formula E has to offer:
"Formula E has become very big in a very short time," he said.
"The current line-up with so many well-known drivers and champions shows the importance of the series within motorsport.
"I see Formula E as a very exciting opportunity for the future, and I'm glad to be part of the action at this early stage."
