Formula E has announced that from this weekend's Mexico City ePrix, the series' races will be streamed live on Twitter in Japan.
Now in its fourth season, Formula E has taken the motor racing world by storm, attracting industry-leading manufacturers, big-name drivers, and racing through the streets of some of the most iconic cities across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.
With Japanese manufacturer, Nissan, set to join the electrical revolution next season as it takes over Renault's e.dams squad, Japan will be a key market that could influence the series' growth, with streaming increasing the accessibility of the all-electric single seater series to fans, meaning that races can be watched on the go.
“We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to bring the racing closer to fans, as well as enhancing the viewing experience both at home and at the track,” said Ali Russell, Formula E’s media and business development director.
“This partnership with Twitter is a first for the series and an area we’re looking to expand in the future.
“The fans in Japan follow Formula E closely, especially with names like Takuma Sato and Kamui Kobayashi behind the wheel in the past – along with the inclusion of Nissan next season.
“Japan is an important market for the series and now fans can’t miss a moment of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.”
