Giancarlo Fisichella will return to the World Endurance Championship for the 2018-19 'super season' with the Spirit of Race GTE-Am squad.
The former Renault Formula 1 driver has been confirmed to drive an AF Corse-prepared Ferrari 488 GTE alongside Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci, replacing Miguel Molina in the lineup.
Fisichella has not driven full-time in the WEC since 2013, when he finished second in the GTE-Pro standings behind Ferrari team-mate Gianmaria Bruni.
Since then, the Italian has been involved with Ferrari's factory programme in North America, co-ordinated by Houston-based Risi Competizione, and in Europe with various drives in the Blancpain GT Series.
“I am really excited to be joining Thomas, Francesco and the whole Spirit of Race family," said Fisichella.
"The WEC is one of the most thrilling and competitive series in the world and I’m very much looking forward to a successful season in this strong team.
“The new Ferrari 488 GTE has been fantastic to drive during the pre-season practice and it’s going to be really exciting to get the most out of it in the fight on track."
Flohr and Castellacci finished fourth in last year's GTE-Am standings with season-long support from Molina, who remains a Ferrari GT factory driver in 2018.
The former Audi DTM driver switched to sportscars at the start of 2017, and was part of the works-supported Risi Competizione pro-am team that took part in the Daytona 24 Hours last month.
