Formula E's founder Alejandro Agag believes that the all-electric single seater series will become the biggest motorsport series within the next 20 years.
In 2018, Formula E is in its fourth season after making its debut in 2014 and the series has successfully brought racing to the streets of some of the world's most iconic cities such as Paris, New York and London while it will also bring circuit racing back to Switzerland for the first time in over 60 years for the inaugural Zurich ePrix later this season.
While the popularity of electric cars on the road is growing, the series is also catching the attention of a number of industry-leading manufacturers, with Mercedes and Porsche set to join the grid in 2019 while Audi, Citroen, BMW and Renault are also involved in the series.
“In 20 years’ time, I don’t see anything bigger than Formula E,” Agag told City A.M.
"Formula One is an entertainment proposition, [like] today, horse racing is an entertainment proposition.
“Formula E will be the main motorsport championship because it is the championship that is connected to the industry.
“I think that we could become one and only," he added.
