Mads Ostberg will drive a third Citroen C3 WRC on the second round of the championship in Sweden next month.
Ostberg, 30, will join regular Citroen drivers Kris Meeke and Craig Breen, returning to the squad with which he contested the 2014 and 2015 seasons, taking seven podiums and a best of fourth in the standings.
Ostberg did not compete full-time in 2017 but competed in eight events in M-Sport Fords, running his own privateer programme.
Ostberg's deal is currently a one-off at the event where he has finished on the podium five times.
The Norwegian has one WRC triumph to his name, having taken victory on Rally Portugal in 2012.
