NIO has confirmed that Harry Tincknell and Alexandre Imperatori will join the team for Formula E's rookie test following the Marrakesh ePrix next weekend.

The test will allow young drivers to gain experience in the electric racing series and is reserved for those who do not currently hold a licence to drive in Formula E competitively.

Tincknell, 26, joins NIO with a range of experience in motorsport, having raced in Formula Renault UK and in both the British and European Formula 3 series as well as winning the LMP2 category of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 and the Drivers' Championship of the European Le Mans Series in 2016.

This will not mark Tincknell's first time behind the wheel of a Formula E car, having previously driven for NIO in a private test at the Calafat Circuit in Spain in the summer.

"I’m really delighted to be driving at the Marrakesh rookie test with NIO Formula E Team and thank them for the opportunity," said Tincknell. "I am looking forward to helping the team at the test and gaining more experience with the Formula E car.

"We’re doing a lot of preparation before the event and I’ll also be able to learn from Oliver and Luca during the race to maximise the weekend.”

With experience in A1 Grand Prix, Formula Nippon and in the Super GT Series, Imperatori will get his first taste of Formula E machinery in Marrakesh and was excited about the opportunity.

"I'm truly excited to be joining the NIO Formula E Team for the Marrakesh rookie test. Formula E is where every driver wants to be right now so I'm very thankful to the team for this opportunity after having worked with NIO on the EP9 project," said Imperatori.

"I am looking forward to discovering the Formula E car and, while I'm sure it will be a steep learning curve, I will be doing my best to adapt quickly and provide the team with solid and valuable feedback throughout the test."
