Formula 3 runner-up Joel Eriksson will switch to DTM in 2018, joining Philipp Eng as BMW’s new recruits.
Eriksson, who has previously been backed by BMW, placed second to Lando Norris in this year’s Formula 3 standings, taking seven victories.
Eng, meanwhile, has competed in Blancpain and ADAC GT Masters across the last few seasons, and also claimed the title in the F1-supporting Porsche Supercup in 2015.
Eriksson and Eng will replace Maxime Martin and Tom Blomqvist in BMW’s DTM line-up.
“When I joined BMW I always had the goal to make it to the very top – and that’s DTM,” said Eriksson.
“And it’s just great that I’ve achieved this goal. I really am looking forward to the collaboration with BMW Team RBM.
“As I’m coming from Formula 3 the handling of the BMW M4 DTM isn’t too unfamiliar to me. I think I will acclimatise quickly.”
Added Eng: “I still can’t really believe that I will be a BMW DTM driver, in 2018.
“I always was accompanied by DTM as I raced in numerous DTM support series and also often was on site for BMW, in the past two years.
“I always dreamed about driving such a DTM car and this dream already came true with my test in the BMW M4 DTM. And the fact that I now will be a DTM regular is just incredible.”
