The FIA held its annual end of season prize giving gala on Friday night at the Palace of Versailles where champions were crowned and various awards handed out to mark the end of the motorsport calendar.
2017 Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton received the Drivers' trophy for a fourth time during the presentation, delivered to him by FIA president Jean Todt. Hamilton was joined on stage by Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff who accepted the Constructors' award, whilst British F4 racer Billy Monger was also invited up by Hamilton.
Monger, who was involved in serious high-speed accident this year at Donington circuit and had both legs amputated as a result, was awarded the President's Award for his amazing recovery and the work he has done since his accident.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen won Personality of the Year for the third time as he romped to two wins this season despite repeated reliability problems.
Meanwhile champions from every FIA sanctioned series were honoured including WRC's Sebastien Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia who, despite not having a drive for 2017 when they accepted the same award last year, went on to win a fifth title following a late switch to M-Sport.
WEC's Timo Bernhard, Earl Bamber and Brendon Hartley received their champions trophies, whilst their Porsche team collected its final LMP1 manufacturer's trophy before calling it quits to focus on Formula E.
Formula E's Lucas di Grassi had to wait some time to collect his trophy given the series' Winter-based calendar, but accepted his award after claiming his maiden title, having fought off a determined challenge from former champion Sebastien Buemi.
Action of the Year went to the WRC’s Esapekka Lappi and F2 champ Charles Leclerc took the Rookie of the Year prize.
