Toyota drivers Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima claimed their third consecutive World Endurance Championship victory at the Bahrain finale.
Problems for the LMP1 competition aided the cause of the #8 TS050, which won by over a minute from the #2 Porsche driven by Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber.
Toyota’s pole-sitting #7 car had its challenge ended by an incident between Kamui Kobayashi and the GTE-Pro Porsche of Michael Christensen just before halfway.
The two Porsches also encountered trouble, although Toyota still had the superior pace around the 3.4-mile circuit.
RESULTS: Final classification from the 6 Hours of Bahrain
Bernhard lost a lap early on when a bollard became stuck in his 919’s undercarriage, while the sister Porsche also spent extra time in the pits after Nick Tandy struck the Gulf Racing 911 RSR.
Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado confirmed themselves as GT world champions with victory in their Ferrari 488.
The AF Corse pair received support from the pole-sitting sister Ferrari of Sam Bird and Davide Rigon, which finished two seconds down the road.
GTE-Am honours went to the #98 Aston Martin crew of Pedro Lamy, Paul Dalla Lana and Mathias Lauda, which was enough to hand the championship to the British marque.
