The Williams F1 team has been handed a reprimand and a suspended €10,000 fine for a tyre infringement during first practice for the United States Grand Prix.
Under F1 regulations, teams must hand back one set of tyres per driver from their weekend allocation after 40 minutes of the opening practice session.
However, on Felipe Massa's car, the team missed that 40-minute deadline by just three seconds and were therefore called to the stewards office to explain why.
It's the second such breach by Williams this season and resulted in a fine and reprimand, although because the deadline was only missed by a few seconds, the fine has been suspended.
"Although this is a breach of the regulations (the second of this type by the team this year), the offence occurred only 3 seconds after the cut off time, hence the suspension of the fine," read a statement.
